Leather Care Guide

Leather Care Guide

Keep your Imperial Path leather goods looking beautiful for decades

Understanding Your Leather

All Imperial Path products are crafted from premium full-grain leather - the highest quality leather available. Full-grain leather retains the natural grain and character of the hide, making each piece unique.

Natural Characteristics: Color variations, natural markings, and grain patterns are not defects - they're proof of genuine leather. Your bag will develop a beautiful patina over time, becoming more unique and valuable with age.

Daily Care Tips

1. Regular Cleaning

• Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and dirt
• For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with mild soap
• Always wipe in the direction of the grain
• Allow to air dry naturally - never use heat sources

2. Conditioning

• Condition your leather every 3-6 months to keep it supple
• Use a high-quality leather conditioner or cream
• Apply a small amount with a soft cloth in circular motions
• Let it absorb for 15-20 minutes, then buff with a clean cloth
• Test on a small hidden area first

3. Protection

• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
• Keep away from heat sources (radiators, car dashboards)
• Protect from rain and moisture when possible
• If wet, blot gently and air dry - never use a hairdryer
• Use a leather protector spray for added water resistance

4. Storage

• Store in a cool, dry place with good air circulation
• Use the dust bag provided to protect from dust and scratches
• Stuff bags with tissue paper to maintain shape
• Never store in plastic bags - leather needs to breathe
• Keep away from direct contact with other leather items

⚠️ What to Avoid

  • Harsh chemicals - No bleach, alcohol, or acetone-based cleaners
  • Excessive water - Leather is not waterproof; avoid soaking
  • Direct heat - Never use hairdryers or place near radiators
  • Rough handling - Avoid dragging on rough surfaces
  • Overstuffing - Don't overload your bag beyond capacity
  • Sharp objects - Keep keys and pens in interior pockets

Handling Common Issues

Water Spots

If your bag gets wet, blot immediately with a soft cloth. Allow to air dry naturally away from heat. Once dry, condition the leather to restore moisture.

Scratches & Scuffs

Light scratches often blend in naturally over time. For deeper scratches, gently rub with your finger - the natural oils can help minimize appearance. Apply leather conditioner to the area.

Stains

Address stains immediately. Blot (don't rub) with a clean, dry cloth. For oil-based stains, sprinkle with cornstarch or talcum powder, let sit overnight, then brush off. For stubborn stains, contact us for professional advice.

Loss of Shape

Stuff your bag with tissue paper or bubble wrap when not in use. Store upright or lying flat - never hang by the handles for extended periods.
